The position requires excellent constituent and team relations, organizational and communication skills. The Development Coordinator is an events-heavy position with significant opportunities to assume responsibilities across a wide range of fundraising, relationship building, marketing, communications and management activities. REPORTS TO: Senior Director, Development JOB LOCATION: VINS Nature Center, 149 Natures Way, Quechee, Vermont Primary Responsibilities Manages the organization’s constituent database using the Front Stream-Giftworks fundraising software, including creating queries, preparing management reports, and analyzing data to increase funding and responsiveness to constituentsCoordinates communications and schedules meetings with donors and sponsors for the Executive Director and Assistant Executive DirectorOverseeing all fundraising activities, direct mail appeals, renewals and corporate partnership initiatives, under the guidance of the ED and AEDCultivates and stewards relationships with current supporters, members and individual donorsPrepares background reports on prospective donors using databases, Internet, and other public information sourcesCoordinates appeal and gift processing and assists with all development and marketing administrative functionsWorks with the Marketing and Development Committee of the Board of Trustees on fundraising and other projects, attends Board of Trustee meetings and conducts the minutes for each meetingAssume Lead role in planning and executing all fundraising events, manage event logistical details with AED, serving as the point of contact with supporters, and sponsors, and attendeesOrganize auction procurement efforts, and prepare auction materialsRecord and track event data and constituent information including budget information, registration lists and resultsProcess donations, generate and track tax-receipts and acknowledgement lettersComplete matching gift forms and protocolsHelp ensure the smooth operation of the office and other dutiesMaintain and build the membership program to a viable source of income for the organization Qualifications The successful employee must be proficient at using standard Microsoft Office applications – including Excel, Word, and Outlook – as well as the donor based software. Experience in raising funds from diverse sources, including major gifts from individuals, foundations, and corporations. Understanding and belief in the organization’s mission, vision and values Detail-oriented and proactive approach to managing time-sensitive workload Good sense of accountability, and strong dependability Responsive to direction and coaching, open to feedback Strong and sound judgment, professional, and a positive attitude Creative, practical problem-solving skills Flexible schedule and a willingness to work some evenings and weekends Highly ethical, particularly in working with confidential or sensitive information Compensation & Work Schedule Commensurate with experience.
