VINS Nature Camp is ready to go the distance with your camper. Whether your child is an avian enthusiast, survivalist in the making, or aspiring archer, we are excited to share an unforgettable summer with them.

Our day and overnight camp programs for Eagles offer the unique and specialized experiences that their inquisitive minds seek. VINS Nature Camp creates opportunities for in-depth investigations, hands-on learning, as well as challenge-by-choice and teambuilding scenarios that can lead to tremendous personal growth and lasting friendships. Your camper will leave with memories to last a lifetime.

JUNE 18 - 22 / Eagles On Target

This camp dedicated to learning the art of archery.* Learning to safely and properly use a bow and arrow is a great way for campers to enjoy an active hobby outdoors. Our trained and certified instructors will teach proper shooting form and introduce this activity in a safe and comfortable manner. Each day, campers will participate in a session on proper shooting technique and the role archery plays in nature awareness and appreciation. Campers will also enjoy archery games and a mini tournament at the end of the week. Other activities will include themed crafts, hikes, additional practice on the range, and even how to make archery tackle. All skill levels are welcome.

*Highly supervised instruction provided by trained and certified staff following all national safety and use guidelines.

JULY 16 - 20 / Survival Adventures II

Overnight Nature Camp

So you think you’d survive on your own in the woods? Come find out. Survival Adventures II is designed for young campers who are looking for a true adventure challenge. With daily survival scenarios, lessons in outdoor living skills and activities that explore human interaction with nature, this week-long overnight camp will give campers the opportunity to put their wilderness skills to the test. Campers will be introduced to the principles of Leave No Trace, the art of orienteering, and will be immersed in the wilds of Vermont. This beautiful and remote camp location is the perfect setting for this wilderness camp. Surviving in the backcountry requires a lot of hard work, fun, laughs, and being open to new experiences; and there will be plenty of that in store during this week-long adventure. Sleep out under the stars, sit with friends around the campfire, become a fire building master and make your home in the wilderness. This is a week-long overnight experience campers will never forget.*

*All activities will be supervised by highly trained instructors and adhere to the strictest American Camping Association standards.

JULY 23 - 27 / Trail Blazers II

Overnight Nature Camp

This camp offers the perfect blend of teambuilding, leadership training, and backcountry travel for young adventurers. Campers will be introduced to the skills necessary for traveling in the wilderness: how to navigate with a map and compass or a GPS device, map making, backcountry preparedness and etiquette, while also experiencing, firsthand, the responsibilities and demands of living and working as a team and what it takes to be a leader. Throughout the week, our experienced instructors will guide campers in teambuilding challenges, leadership exercises, and a trail maintenance project to promote cooperation, communication and trust. Participants will build confidence in themselves, practice the skills necessary to become a teammate and leader on the trail, and have a blast doing it. This camp will build self-confidence, teach responsibility and promote teamwork in a fun, supportive and safe environment.*

AUGUST 6 - 10 / Advanced Science of Amazing Raptors

VINS Nature Center, Quechee, VT
Monday-Thursday, 9:00am-4:00pm
Friday, 9:00am-3:30pm

Advanced SOAR Camp gives campers the opportunity to delve deep into the world of raptors. Campers will work with professional trainers, VINS Rehabilitation Department, and specialized educators to learn about avian anatomy, current raptor research, and the inner workings of VINS’ wildlife services department. With more diversified interactions and up-close raptor encounters, campers will be on the road to becoming wildlife rehabilitators, environmental educators, or VINS volunteers. On the final day of camp, everyone is invited to enjoy an afternoon bird program led by the campers in which they will demonstrate their knowledge and appreciation of these amazing birds.

Prerequisite: Campers must have successfully completed a session of SOAR Camp or have equivalent knowledge base prior to attending the Advanced SOAR Camp.*
