A donor-advised fund, or DAF, is a philanthropic investment account established for the sole purpose of supporting the charitable organizations you care about, and provides an immediate tax benefit to you. You can donate to VINS through your DAF today.

How to Recommend a Gift to VINS:
Step 1: Request a grant distribution through your DAF sponsor.
Step 2: Provide your DAF sponsor with VINS’ EIN #03- 0231665.
Step 3: Indicate whether your gift is unrestricted or designated to a specific cause or program.

When you make a Donor Advised Fund gift, it’s possible that the sponsoring organization will not share your information with us.

If you’ve already made a DAF gift, send us a note at development@vinsweb.org or let us know by filling out this form so we can make sure to thank you and ensure your gift gets where it’s intended.

Does your employer match gifts from Donor Advised Funds?
Many donors don’t realize that their employers might match their gifts from their DAFs. This is an amazing way to increase the impact of your gift. Simply ask your employer if they match DAF grants.

The Soaring Society represents those who have demonstrated their loyal commitment to the Vermont Institute of Natural Science at the giving level of an annual gift of $10K and more, and shown their shared dedication to our mission to motivate individuals and communities to care for the environment through education, research, and avian wildlife rehabilitation.

By including the Vermont Institute of Natural Science in your estate planning, you can support VINS while making a tax-wise gift for the future. A bequest is a simple statement in your will that directs a gift to VINS. The most common bequest is an unrestricted gift of a specified dollar amount or percentage of your residual estate. We welcome the opportunity to speak with you or your legal and financial advisors to help with the appropriate language.

You may also work with your financial and legal advisors and VINS to consider a variety of charitable trusts or life income plans. These plans often offer a noteworthy combination of tax benefits, an income stream for the donor and a future contribution to VINS.

A gift of retirement funds or life insurance can be made simply by naming Vermont Institute of Natural Science as the beneficiary of an existing or a new policy.

Donations to the VINS Nature Camp Scholarship Fund are always welcome. Scholarships are wonderful opportunities which give the children of families in need of support the chance to join our camp community.

If you would like to make a gift to support this important program, make sure to select the Camp Scholarship Fund option on the online donation form or please email camps@vinsweb.org for more information.

There are many other ways to support VINS aside from monetary donations, such as donating services, goods, and supplies. This is always a wonderful option and VINS is always in need.
