Animals in Fall: Preparing for Winter

Small Wonders: 9:30 – 10:15 AM
Learn about different animals and how they prepare for winter. Do they Snack, Sleep, or Skedaddle? Listen to a song and sort animals into their different survival strategies. Do the Fall Scavenger Hunt and use materials you find to build a shelter that will successfully keep out the elements; test it with a bead-animal that reacts to UV light!
Little Explorers: 10:15 – 11:00 AM
Learn about different animals and how they prepare for winter. Play Eventful Journey, a game about bird migration and hunt like an owl that stays in Vermont all winter. Build a small shelter using natural materials to keep your “jelly animal” warm. Test it with a thermometer and compare the results to the control “jelly animal” that was left out in the cold.
