VINS is thrilled to bring Pandas, an IMAX original documentary to the Upper Valley this spring.
Pandas introduces audiences to Qian Qian, a captive-born giant panda cub at the Chengdu Panda Base and follows this cub’s journey back to the wild. Giant pandas may not be native to the Upper Valley, but Pandas spotlights Upper Valley resident Ben Kilham of the Kilham Bear Center. In the film, Kilham shares techniques refined over his 25+ years of rehabilitating black bear cubs with Chinese scientists to prepare Qian Qian, and other cubs at the Chengdu Panda Base, for life in the wild.
This event will include an introduction of the film by Ben Kilham and after the screening VINS will host Kilham for a Q&A session with the audience.
Film Synopsis
Join narrator Kristen Bell in Pandas, the heartwarming journey of Qian Qian, an adorable captive-born giant panda cub who is destined for life in the wild. A cross-cultural collaboration connects Chinese scientists at the Chengdu Panda Base with an American black bear researcher from New Hampshire. Together, they work to reintroduce captive-born pandas into the spectacular, mystical mountains of Sichuan. Cuteness abounds in this one-of-a-kind experience that will delight the entire family!
