August 28, 2021 | 9:00 am - 3:30 pm
2 Sessions / Saturdays / August 21 & 28
9 AM – 3:30 PM
Held at the VINS Nature Center
$135 General Public, $120 VINS Members
Love birds? Love drawing and sketching? Overwhelmed by the idea of sketching something that is always on the move, like birds? No fear, VINS has the class for you.
Join this 2-day workshop to develop basic knowledge of bird anatomy and hone your observation and drawing skills. Bone structure, feathers, proportions and body shapes will be presented for discussion, observation and drawing. We will use photos, mounted specimens, bird artifacts and live birds as our models. The workshop is designed to spend most of our time for focused learning and discussion but be prepared to practice drawing live birds outside too.
Challenging? Yes, but you can do this! One must have a place to start their journey of bird sketching and this is it.
Materials
Bring your current sketchpad (newsprint pads not recommended), drawing pencils, a white eraser (General’s Tri-Tip eraser recommended) and a kneaded eraser. Drawing pens are welcome as well as any tool you enjoy sketching with. Drawing/sketching experience not necessary.
