Come celebrate World Migratory Bird Day at VINS and discover how water is fundamental to sustaining life on our planet. Collect your passport and travel around the Nature Center to learn about the wonderful world of Migratory Birds. Attend a live raptor program, meet the songbirds, compete to find your habitat, play in water games and more! Collect stickers at each station to complete your passport.

Join us for a day of games, crafts and activities!
10 AM – 4 PM / Water: Sustaining Bird life – Migration Station
Games and crafts at this station will explore the many ways water is essential for birds all around the world. Neale Pavilion
10 AM – 4 PM / Habitat Scramble on the Canopy Walk
What does it take for a bird to find a home? Grab a species card and see how you would fare in a changing world! Forest Canopy Walk
10:30 AM – 10:50 AM / Turtle Breakfast
Meet Turt and Jersey, VINS ambassador Turtles, as they have their morning stroll and breakfast. Chat with an educator about these cool creatures. Hawkfly
11 AM – 11:30 AM / Raptor Migration
Join VINS as we delve into the amazing journey of migration! We’ll meet migrant raptors as well as residents, and learn about the benefits and challenges of making a thousand-mile journey every single year of your life. Hawkfly
12:30 PM – 12:50 PM / Songbird Aviary Tour
Spend some time in our newest exhibit – the Songbird Aviary! An educator will familiarize you with this special group of birds and point out the ways you can make a great habitat for these important creatures in your own backyard. Songbird Aviary
2 PM – 2:30 PM / Raptor Migration
Join VINS as we delve into the amazing journey of migration! We’ll meet migrant raptors as well as residents, and learn about the benefits and challenges of making a thousand-mile journey every single year of your life. Hawkfly
2:30 PM – 3 PM / Raptor Feeding
Follow our raptor care-givers at feeding time! Learn about the habits and history of each of the resident raptors at VINS as you watch them enjoy their daily meal. Raptor Enclosures – Bald Eagle
3 PM – 3:15 PM / Hawk on the Walk
Keep an eye out while exploring the VINS Canopy Walk at this time. You might get the chance to watch a Harris’ Hawk diving and weaving among the trees! Forest Canopy Walk – Weather Permitting
