Use discount code MULTI24 in your cart. \nOther Drawing from Nature Class dates:\nJuly 13 – Summer Songbirds\nAugust 24 – Predators of the Sky: Raptors\, Vultures and Corvids\nOctober 5 – Fall Foliage: Leaves and Landscapes \nWorkshop Details:  \nWe will begin this second class of our Drawing from Nature Series by exploring the first summer wildflowers to bloom in the fields and forest. While outside we’ll examine their shapes\, hues\, textures\, and pollinators\, as well as discuss identification techniques. Then\, we’ll bring our references (both photos and floral specimens) indoors to experiment with brushstrokes and color. We will spend the rest of the workshop creating watercolor wildflowers in our nature journals. \nLearn tips and tricks for drawing as well as for creating vivid pages that depict personal natural history experiences. Drawing\, sketching\, and watercolor experience are not necessary\, all skill levels welcome. \nSuggested Materials:  \n\nA water bottle\nA high-quality journal with heavyweight\, mixed media\, or watercolor paper\nHB pencil or mechanical pencil \nAn eraser\nMicron pen size 01 and/or 005\nOptional: your preferred art medium such as watercolor\, gouache\, or colored pencils\n\nInstructor Bios: \nCynthia Moulton – Cynthia finds that observing and recording in a field journal enhances our engagement with the natural world. Teaching courses in ecology\, animal diversity and biological illustration at Castleton University for the last 25 years has allowed her and her students to explore science through pen and ink\, graphite and colored pencil. \nLois Moulton – Lois has been passionate about science illustration for years\, creating numerous personal nature journals from her travels and time outdoors. As an educator at Eaglebrook School in Deerfield\, Massachusetts\, she has been incorporating art as a tool for observation into her science classes since 1995. Meet-ups will take place in different locations each time so that we can visit the varied habitats of our region and observe the diverse birdlife that inhabit each. \nGet practice identifying grassland\, wetland and forest species and start building your eBird or Life List if you have one. \nThese Meet-ups are designed for the intermediate to advanced birder who want to hone their ID skills with the help of VINS staff. \nField guides and binoculars are recommended for this event. Binoculars will be available to borrow. \nCome and go at your convenience. This workshop will be held outdoors\, rain or shine.
