Mammal Research at the VINS Nature Center

We are conducting a mammal research project. Details are listed below.

VINS is collecting wildlife data on campus using a network of trail cameras. These remote cameras allow us to inventory the species living on campus and assess their population status.

VINS in collaboration with Kaitlin McDonald, PhD Candidate at Dartmouth College, is investigating the animal communities that serve as tick hosts. A better understanding of the animal residents in and around Vermont, their predators, and the number of ticks they have will provide insights into the local community ecology and may help us to better understand why ticks and their diseases seem to be on the rise.
