Gall Kit

Have you ever noticed the small bumps and lumps on plant stems and leaves and wondered what they are? There’s a good chance they are galls, abnormal growths on a plant that act as a home and source of food for small insects, mites, fungi and even viruses. Galls present themselves in a variety of fascinating shapes, colors and textures. Students will have the chance to discover a commonly unobserved natural process up close and later recognize the almost hidden homes of these tiny creatures when they are outside.
