Halloween Events

Saturday, October 26
10 AM - 5 PM

Peeps & Squeaks
10:30 AM – 1:30 PM
Included with admission to the VINS Nature Center

Hoots & Howls
5:30 PM – 8 PM
Tickets available starting October 1

Eligibility

  • Open to all participants
  • Free and open to the public

Pumpkin Requirements

  • Contestants must provide their own pumpkins
  • Pumpkins can be any size, but must be easily movable
  • Each entry must include a battery-powered candle

Submission Process

  1. Delivery Dates: Thursday, October 24, or Friday, October 25, during regular business hours
    • Alternative arrangements can be made if needed
  2. Location: Vermont Institute of Natural Science (VINS)
  3. Entry Form: Please enter your details on the Carved Pumpkin Contest Entry Form

Judging

  • Voting will take place during the Peeps and Squeaks and Hoots and Howls event
  • Each pumpkin will have a voting sheet for visitors to cast their votes
  • The pumpkin with the most votes wins

Prizes

Display and Pick-up

  • Initial Display: Saturday, October 26 in the August Pavilion for viewing and voting
  • Ongoing Display: Pumpkins will be displayed around the VINS Nature Center after Saturday, October 26
  • Pick-up: During regular business hours the week following the contest
  • Deadline: Pumpkins not picked up by Thursday, October 31 will be composted

Important Dates

  • Submission Deadline: Friday, October 25
  • Voting Day: Saturday, October 26
  • Winner Announcement: Monday, October 28
  • Final Pick-up Deadline: Thursday, October 31
