Have you ever wondered what our ambassador owls get up to behind-the-scenes? This program will recount three juicy stories about our owls that have never before been shared with the public. Mystery! Romance! Betrayal! You’ll never see our owls the same way again.

5:25pmOwls in Media
From novels and films to commercials and language-learning apps, owls are ever present in pop culture. But how accurate are the media portrayals of these nocturnal hunters? Are they truly wise and all-knowing? Would it even be possible to have your post delivered by owl? And how many licks does it take to get to the center of a Tootsie Pop? Find out in tonight’s media analysis.

5:45pm – Owl Diversity: The owls you don’t know
Aren’t owls adorable? Big round eyes and covered in fluffy feathers, what could be cuter? But how many owl species can you actually recognize and name? There are over 240 species of owl found across the world and they don’t always look like the owls we’re more familiar with. Learn about the diverse array of owl species found across the globe!

If you’re like most people here, you’re probably here because you love owls, but allow me to play the devil’s advocate: here is the low-down, the dirty and disgusting truths, and everything you didn’t want to know about owls. You may come away from this presentation shocked, disgusted, incredulous and maybe even with the new perspective that owls… kind of suck.

6:25pmOwls As Pets
We’ve all had the thought: owls are fluffy and adorable, so why don’t more people have pet owls? You might even have seen people with pet owls on your late-night social-media scrolls, night owl that you are. So what’s the story there? How hard is it to get a pet owl, and to keep one healthy and happy in a human household? Learn all the things you need to know about owl-keeping and come away prepared to educate others, too!

Final Q&A / Wrap-up
Finally, we will have time to answer any lingering questions or chat about any of the topics presented.
