An Introduction to Bird ID – Birding by Sight & Sound
APRIL 17 & MAY 1 - Have you ever noticed a small flash of color high in the treetops and wondered what species of bird you are looking at, or awoken to the dawn chorus of songbirds and wished you could identify who was singing outside your window? If you want to get better at identifying birds by sight and sound then join VINS for these virtual classes that will introduce you to the basics of birding. Begin your birding journey this spring!

Fiddlehead Foray
VINS Nature Center 149 Natures Way, Quechee, United StatesMAY 3 & 8 - Fiddleheads have a very narrow season, only lasting from late April to early May. During that time, foragers fan out across Vermont’s woodlands in search of these culinary treasures.
The workshop will explore the trails of the VINS Nature Center, ending in an Ostrich Fern glade, where participants can harvest fiddleheads to take home along with a suggested recipe for cooking them. Participants will be introduced to foraging safety as well as the sustainability and ethics of harvesting wild edibles.
