Dam Exploration
Dam Exploration
The Quechee Gorge Dam serves as the outdoor classroom for an investigation into both natural and man-made dams,an exploration into their various functions as well as their pros and cons for our natural environments. Join your VINS Educator as students consider how humans learned about dams from beavers, why man-made dams exist today, and try your hand at making your own dam from natural materials and test out how effective your design is. Weather permitting the lesson ends with a guided 30 minute hike down somewhat steep and uneven terrain to the Quechee Gorge Dam and back and is limited to a minimum of 10 students and a maximum of 25 students at a time.
