Laurie is originally from Boston, MA where she was a senior lead teacher for 27 years at a preschool on a working farm. She received her BA in Psychology and her MSW in Clinical Social Work from Boston College, and later her MEd in Early Childhood Education from Wheelock College. She comes from a family of educators steeped in a deep appreciation for the natural world and she has been active throughout her life in all aspects of outdoor learning, both personally and professionally. Laurie is also a professional musician, bringing her love of music and puppetry to children and adults. She came to VINS in September 2021 and has been teaching Small Wonders and Wee Wonders lessons in area schools as well as coordinating the VINS Field Trips program. In addition to writing and performing music, Laurie loves gardening, hiking and cooking.
