Small Wonders
PreK
Small Wonders is a nature program rich in science content and rooted in imagination and experience.
Small Wonders embraces the inherent sense of wonder and curiosity that young children bring to the world.
Small Wonders creates opportunities for teachers to incorporate science discoveries, nature play, and investigations into lessons and activities.
Program Package
Through immersive, hands-on lessons, Small Wonders engages preschool-age students in science, engineering, and the environment in new and exciting ways! Each lesson includes songs accompanied by a ukulele because we believe in the important connections between science and the arts.
Teachers receive a list of topics from which to choose lessons that align with their curriculum. We require a minimum of three lessons, but we can come as often as desired! VINS Science Educators are always available to discuss the program goals with the classroom teacher and explore ways to integrate Small Wonders into their curriculum.
Small Wonders Program includes:
An engaging, interactive puppet show or inquisitive, realistic, plush hand puppet
Songs, poem, movement and body engagement
Outdoor learning, depending on topic and weather conditions
A range of hands-on activities, investigations and nature play
Program Fee: $115 per lesson, plus $1.25 per mile to cover travel expenses and the educator’s time. Scholarships are available. Please email Hannah, Senior Director of Education if you need financial assistance.
