
The Vermont Institute of Natural Science (VINS) is pleased to announce its comprehensive summer programming schedule, offering visitors daily opportunities to connect with VINS’ remarkable wildlife through interactive educational experiences. Running throughout the summer season until the end of October, these programs provide families and nature enthusiasts with unique insights into the natural world.
“Our summer programming is designed to spark curiosity and foster a deeper connection with our incredible Ambassadors,” said Anna Morris, Director of Wildlife Ambassador Programs at VINS. “From families with young children to dedicated birding enthusiasts, we have something to captivate visitors of all ages.”
All programs are included with regular VINS admission and are led by knowledgeable educators and wildlife care specialists.
Daily Summer Program Schedule:
Natural Wonders (10:30AM – 11:00AM)
Join us on a journey of discovery through the wonders of the natural world. Designed for families with young children, this short interactive program explores a range of engaging topics including animals of New England, Animal Engineers, and local habitats.
Predators of the Sky (11:00AM – 11:30AM)
Take flight with us for an unforgettable experience! We’ll show you the unique nature of some of the world’s most highly skilled predators – raptors!
Rotating Education Station (1:00PM – 1:30PM)
Something new every day! Take a stroll with one of our experienced educators through the woods or the meadow, learn about what’s going on behind the scenes in the Center for Wild Bird Rehabilitation and Ambassador Care, or what the research team has been up to in the field.
Songbird Aviary Tour (2:00PM – 2:20PM)
Spend some time in our Songbird Aviary! Learn ways you can make a great habitat for these important creatures in your own backyard.
Raptor Feeding Time (2:30PM – 3:00PM)
Join our raptor care-givers for feeding time! Learn about the habits and history of each of the resident raptors at VINS.

Take flight with us for an unforgettable experience! We’ll show you the unique nature of some of the world’s most highly skilled predators – raptors!
Hawk on the Walk (4:00PM – 4:15PM, Friday/Saturday/Sunday)
Keep an eye out while exploring the VINS Canopy Walk at this time. You might get the chance to watch a Harris’ Hawk diving and weaving among the trees!
The enhanced summer program schedule invites visitors to experience the VINS mission in action: to motivate individuals and communities to care for the environment through education, research, and avian wildlife rehabilitation.
Beyond the scheduled programming, admission to the VINS Nature Center also includes access to all of VINS’ interactive exhibits, including the new Beaver Lodge for Early Explorers (ages 0-3), Forest Canopy Walk, Nature Trails, Adventure Playscape, Forest Exhibit, Birds are Dinosaurs, the Bird Enclosures and more.
