VINS Celebrates Snowy Owl Appreciation Day

Snowy Owl

Quechee, VT – The Vermont Institute of Natural Science (VINS) will celebrate Snowy Owl Appreciation Day on Saturday, December 16, 2017, from 10:00 am to 4:00 pm. This full-day event, which is included with general admission to the VINS Nature Center, is just one of the many winter-themed environmental education experiences VINS will offer throughout the season.

Join VINS for a special day dedicated to the majesty of the Snowy Owl. There will be Snowy Owl Biofacts, a Snowy Owl Irruption game, and crafts. Make a Snowy Owl-themed bookmark or ornament just in time for the holiday season. At 11:00 am, join us for a live bird program titled Outstanding Owls. At noon, enjoy hot cocoa, and a movie about the amazing life of the Snowy Owl, a bird made popular by Harry Potter’s faithful companion, Hedwig.

Although Snowy Owls naturally stand out for their beauty, intelligence, and charm in their eerie, bleak Arctic home, it is their determination and survival skills that are truly magical. At 1:30 pm, join us for a guided enclosure tour as we compare owls to other raptors.

Also, stop by the VINS Nature Store and check out our unique Snowy Owl locally hand-carved ornaments among other unique gift items.
