The Vermont Institute of Natural Science (VINS) will host an Autumn Wildlife Celebration on Saturday, September 13, from 10 AM to 5 PM. The event invites families and nature enthusiasts to explore the changing season through hands-on activities, educational programs, and wildlife encounters.
“Everyone comes to Vermont to see the changing foliage. The most unique place to experience it is in the canopy itself, and there’s only one place to do so: the Forest Canopy Walk at VINS!” says Emily Boren, Director of Marketing. “Our Autumn Wildlife Celebration offers visitors the chance to experience this seasonal change firsthand, while learning about this dynamic time in the natural world, with wildlife preparing for winter and spectacular migration journeys underway.”
The celebration features continuous activities throughout the day, including energy exploration workshops presented by the Vermont Energy Education Program and environmental impact stations led by water scientist Brooke Winslow. Visitors can participate in fall crafts, test their tree identification skills, and learn about bird migration research from biologist Kevin Tolan of the Vermont Center for Ecostudies.
Event Highlights Include:

- Interactive energy education activities exploring wind power and electricity generation
- Environmental awareness stations focusing on textile fiber impact and conservation
