VINS Nature Center announces the launch of Screen Time & Growing Minds, a new educational series addressing one of today’s most pressing parenting challenges. The series will kick off on Sunday, October 19, from 4:00 PM to 5:00 PM with a presentation by Dr. Bill Hudenko, a leading expert in mental health technology and child development.

“The relationship between children and technology impacts their relationship with nature in both negative and positive ways. It’s hard to get this right as a parent!” says Alden Smith, Executive Director. “We at VINS want to help families be more informed and intentional about their decisions regarding screen time.”

The free inaugural event on October 19th, Screen Time & Growing Minds: What the Science Tells Us, will provide Upper Valley families with science-based insights into how young brains respond to digital technology and evidence-based strategies for establishing healthy technology boundaries. Dr. Hudenko will ground parents in current research while offering practical guidance for navigating the complex digital landscape with children of all ages.

Bill Hudenko, Ph.D. brings unique expertise to this topic as both a researcher and practitioner. He serves as Research Assistant Professor of Psychological & Brain Sciences at Dartmouth College and Adjunct Assistant Professor of Psychiatry at Dartmouth’s Geisel School of Medicine. As Chief Clinical Officer of Jimini Health, he specializes in transforming mental healthcare delivery through innovative technology.

“Dr. Hudenko’s career sits at the intersection of mental health and technology; he knows this topic inside and out. He has helped countless families in the Upper Valley with these daily challenges, and is an ideal speaker to launch this series,” notes Emily Boren, Director of Marketing.

Registration is required for the October 19 kickoff event. Following the presentation, participants will have the opportunity to sign up for ongoing discussions and events based on their parenting stage of life.
