The Rough-legged Hawk Project
MAY 4 - Join us for a virtual talk with Neil Paprocki, a former Conservation Biologist for HawkWatch International and current PhD candidate at the University of Idaho, for a presentation of his work on Rough-legged Hawks. Rough-legged Hawks may be declining as well as shifting winter distributions northwards. Interpreting these trends is crucial to help understand the species’ migratory behavior and external factors that may be influencing their migration patterns.
Raptors Up Close
Take flight with us on an unforgettable experience! We’ll show you the unique nature of some of the world’s most highly skilled predators – raptors! In this live bird demonstration you’ll gain an up-close view and an in-depth understanding of these majestic birds.
Songbird Aviary Tour
Spend some time in our newest exhibit – the Songbird Aviary! Our docents will familiarize you with this special group of birds and point out the ways you can make a great habitat for these important creatures in your own backyard.

Introduction to Birding Workshop
MAY 6 & 13 - Join VINS for an early morning birding adventure through the varied habitats at the VINS Nature Center and culminating in the treetops on the Forest Canopy Walk. During this workshop, VINS staff will open your eyes and ears to the avian life around you and help you build the skills to start birding wherever you go.
Green Up Day at Dewey’s Pond
MAY 6 - Join VINS AmeriCorp Member to help green up the walking path next to Dewey's Mill Pond in Quechee, Vermont.
