    JANUARY 8 & 29 - Ride along with the VINS Research Team in the field this winter! Addison County is known as a hotspot in Vermont for wintering raptors. Red-tailed Hawks, Rough-legged Hawks, and Northern Harriers are all often observed and some years even yield Snowy Owl sightings. During our day-long outing, we will crisscross Addison County searching for raptors and attempting to trap and band hawks as part of our long-term winter raptor survey.

    NOVEMBER & DECEMBER - Join us for a special family-friendly evening to celebrate the wonders of winter. This hour-long program is inspired by winter snow and animals that thrive in the cold. Enjoy a puppet show and story, practice hunting like an owl in winter, create your own Forest of Lights lantern and bird feeder, find all the hidden winter animals, and experiment with ice treasures.     NOVEMBER 2 - The Feather Detective takes readers deep within the vaunted backrooms of the Smithsonian’s National Museum of Natural History to tell the fascinating story of the world's first forensic ornithologist – Roxie Laybourne. Using nothing more than her microscope and bits of feathers, Roxie helped prosecute murderers, investigate deadly airplane crashes, and break up poaching rings.

    SEPTEMBER 27 - Learn to safely use a bow and arrow and get your family enjoying this outdoor hobby all together. Our USA Archery-certified instructor will introduce range rules and safety, and familiarize archers with proper shooting form with our recurve bows. This program will focus on getting archers of all ages hitting the target and incorporate archery-themed games throughout the session.

Before our opening hours, sip coffee and savor fresh pastries as the morning sun lights up the Ottauquechee River and the first colors of autumn.
