Investigating Decomposers — What types of decomposers are all around us?

Materials:

  • Access to a wooded outdoor area
  • Paper (or your science journal)
  • Colored pencils (optional)
  • Pencil
  • Camera (optional)

What to do:

  1. Watch this video!
  2. Head outside with your science journal, pencil and colored pencils.
  3. Head out and see what fungi you can find.
  4. What other types of decomposers are there?  See if you can find any others while you investigate your wooded area.
  5. Share your findings and your science journal drawings by posting them on Facebook and tagging us @VINS.VT!
